Missile Commander 2031

Missile Commander 2031

‘Missile Commander 2031’ was the first game I ever completed. I got the idea for it while thinking about the classic arcade game ‘Missile Command’ and what it would be like to play as the “bad guy.” With very limited knowledge of game development, I downloaded UDK and the rest is history. This game was fully coded in Kismet, which for those who remember it is quite a challenge!

In this game, I also showcase my interest in the use of nuclear weapons, which is mentioned in the credits. I was fortunate enough to showcase ‘Missile Commander 2031’ at my first IGDA Japan meeting, which was the first time I had ever publicly displayed one of my games.

For historical purposes, I have included the normal version of the game along with the HD pack in this presentation. At the time, bandwidth was not as widely available as it is now, and I wanted as many people as possible to be able to play the game. I am happy to say that it was received with great feedback for such a simple game, and I am still very proud of it today. It brings back many fun memories of learning to develop games on my own during many late nights!
